Rock Band 3 Keyboard – Piano Icon spotted!

Wow!  The Rock Band: Green Day demo teases this little image when you quit the game.  Looks like Rock Band 3 is going to live up to the “VERY BIG” claim.

rock-band-3-keyboard-piano Wonder how much the complete Rock Band 3 Band Set will cost now?

Rock Band 3 to show at E3

e3-2010 On May 20th, in Los Angeles, Harmonix will be premiering Rock Band 3 to only a select few E3 judges.  Lets hope they release some good gameplay footage and new features.

Harmonix Partners Up With Mad Catz

mad-catz-logo

Mad Catz & Harmonix have struck quite a deal, they will now be the “principal peripherals partner” for the Rock Band series going forward.  All the goodies that will come with your Rock Band 3 bundles will indeed be produced by Mad Catz.  No third-party status!  This is great news for Rock Band fans.  Look for the first official Rock Band 3 instruments to be a little sturdier than the previous Harmonix-made guitars, mics & drums.

Do you own any Mad Catz products?  Is this a good move by Harmonix?

Song Stats in RB3! The More The Better

song-selection One thing that fans have been craving since Rock Band 2 was released is a more-detailed song selection screen. Sure, the current screen gives you information about the track, but players want to be able to see an accurate score, along with the amount of stars they have achieved on each song. While Rock Band 2 left this feature out, The Beatles: Rock Band and Lego Rock Band successfully implemented such a system.

Wouldn’t be great if Rock Band 3 kept track of your progress, too?  Pull up a song and get your score history.  See what your best % is on that tough solo, your best note streak, etc.  There are many great websites that let you put in all those stats and track it, (like ScoreHero.com) but how sweet would it be if the game integrated that kind of database?  It seems simple enough.

Green Day: Rock Band – No DLC, RB3 Band?

green-day-dookie

Chris Foster of Harmonix has said this about the open-ended DLC possibilities in Green Day: Rock Band that we loved so much with Beatles: Rock Band,

That’s something that’s not really practical to do open-ended.

Oh well – how is this significant for those looking forward to Rock Band 3? Well, it looks like any additional Green Day tracks that were not included in their game will be saved for RB3 when it’s released this holiday season.

Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, Perfect Rock Band 3 Song?

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody - Rock Band 3? Do you know bands that have had some DLC or been in Guitar Hero or RB before, but haven’t released one of their huge hits for a game?  That is a good place to look for bands that might be in Rock Band 3.  For instance, Queen had a huge pack released as DLC, but arguably their biggest hit, “Bohemian Rhapsody” was excluded. While many people argue it’s just because the track would not translate well into gameplay, looking at it from a marketing standpoint will tell you that there would be no better way to promote Rock Band 3’s new vocal harmonies feature than to include one of the most well known harmony parts in the history of rock music in the game.

Though not many details are known, through looking at clues and trends left by Harmonix and other parties, it is quite easy to speculate and feel as though you aren’t very far off from the possible truth. There are many new features that were brought to the forefront with The Beatles: Rock Band and Lego Rock Band that would fit very nicely into the formula of Rock Band 3. The question is, which of those features would make the transition and which ones would be left on the cutting room floor?

Leaked: Rock Band 3 will have Vocal Harmonies

vocal-harmonies-rock-band-3

It’s been highly speculated that Rock Band 3 will include harmonies, something that was included in The Beatles: Rock Band and will be included in Green Day: Rock Band, but were conspicuously absent from Rock Band, Rock Band 2, and Lego Rock Band. If the feature is implemented, it is unclear as to how Harmonix would handle previous songs that feature harmonies within them (such as the Simon and Garfunkel tracks). Would Harmonix rechart them to include harmonies, or would it simply be affecting tracks moving forward?

FORGET THE SPECULATION! Chris Foster of Harmonix let slip, at PAX East 2010, that Rock Band 3 will have vocal harmonies.  So the feature introduced in Beatles: Rock Band will live on with the next huge release from the Cambridge, MA based video game developers.

Buy an extra microphone now if you see a good deal somewhere.

What are some great rock songs with vocal harmonies that you want to see in Rock Band 3?

Rock Band 3 Rumors, Speculation

rumors While hardly any details are available at this time in regards to Rock Band 3, speculation is running rampant. From bands that will appear on disc to any new features that look to be present, the music video game communities are speculating about as much as they ever had.

There are a few educated guesses that are fairly well-accepted. The first, and probably most-obvious guess, is that Rock Band 2 will export its tracks much in the way that the original Rock Band and Lego Rock Band did. Ever since Harmonix was unable to export “Enter Sandman”, “Paranoid” and “Run to the Hills” from the original Rock Band disc, it seems as though they’ve learned their lesson. Lego Rock Band was fully exportable, as will be Green Day: Rock Band. Harmonix representatives even took small jabs as Activision and their apparent inability to export full discs at one point.

The other widely-accepted idea about Rock Band 3 is that Rock Band Network will be carried over to the new title in the series. With so much work put into it and so much hype surrounding it, it would be a terrible falter to exclude it in the updated title. Rock Band Network will key for Harmonix in moving forward with the Rock Band series.

What do think Harmonix will introduce for new features?

Rock Band 3 Wishlist – Bands / Songs

wishlist Please share with me what bands & songs you want to see in Rock Band 3.  Post individual bands or songs or post a setlist if you really want. Let’s hope they avoid the songs that we have played in the Guitar Hero series, I’m getting sick of the overlap!

Rock Band 3 Competition and vs. Power Gig

Rock Band 3When Rock Band was released, Harmonix made a promise that the game would be a platform, meaning that fans should not expect to see multiple titles released each year, as they saw with Guitar Hero. That’s why, in 2008, when Harmonix released Rock Band 2, many fans were very confused. There was much worry that Harmonix had abandoned the gameplan in favor a making a quick-buck.

Harmonix was quick to dismiss all of those fears. They claimed that Rock Band 2 would be basically an extension of the original Rock Band, only it would contain more songs, better user interface and a much more feature-rich experience. When fans started to raise concerns that they paid a lot of money for their current DLC and that no game had ever had cross-compatible DLC, Harmonix listened to them as well. After much negotiation with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, Harmonix finally announced, to the relief of the millions of fans across the world, that not only would all original Rock Band DLC work for Rock Band 2, but most of the songs from the original Rock Band disc would export as well.

Rock Band 2 was released to an overwhelmingly positive critical reception and it has endured the test of time. In 2009, Harmonix released The Beatles: Rock Band as a special project, as well as Lego Rock Band, which was 100% exportable to Rock Band 2. This year, Harmonix announced that Green Day: Rock Band would also be 100% exportable to Rock Band 2, which helps users build their already enormous library.

With Rock Band Network coming down the pipe, players figured that Rock Band 2’s life would be extended by a year or two, but with Guitar Hero 5’s incredible graphics and spectacular feature-list, Harmonix recognized that Rock Band 2 was feeling slightly dated when compared to Guitar Hero 5. In response to this issue, Harmonix announced that Rock Band 3 would be coming to the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii this holiday season.  Competing with RB3 will be the new innovative release from Seven45  Studios, Power Gig: Rise Of The Six String.

What do you think of this Holiday Season Battle between Rock Band 3 & Power Gig?  Will RB3 triumph or will the new guy steal its thunder?Power Gig - Rise of the 6 String
